What We Teach

Our Distinctives

Philosophy of Ministry

  • We believe the goal of ministry within the body of Christ is stated by the Apostle Paul in Colossians 1:28 “We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ.”
  • In order to accomplish this goal, we have 5 core commitments we hold as a church:  A High View of God; An Accurate View of Man; A High View of Scripture; A Biblical View of Service in the Church; A Biblical View of Spiritual Leadership.

Sufficiency of Scripture

  • We believe that God has given us the scriptures to know Him and to know how to live blamelessly before Him. We believe as the Apostle Peter wrote, “His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is the world by lust.” 2 Peter 1:3-4

Origins, Marriage, & Sexuality

  • We believe in a literal six-day creation. (Genesis 1)
  • We believe that God created male and female.
  • We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning, and that is marriage sanctioned by God which joins one man and one woman in a single, exclusive, covenant union, as defined in Scripture (Gen. 2:24, Matt. 19:15).

Biblical Eldership

  • We believe that the Bible instructs the church to be led by qualified men who serve as elders in each local assembly.
  • We believe a biblical spiritual leader must be qualified in his character (1 Tim. 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9).
  • We believe a biblical spiritual leader must be a model of godliness for the flock (1 Cor. 4:16; 1 Cor. 11:1; 2 Thess. 3:7-9; 1 Tim. 3:12; Heb. 6:12; Heb. 13:7; 3 Jn. 1:11).
  • We believe a biblical spiritual leader must shepherd the flock with patience, care, and love (1 Pt. 5:1-4; 2 Tim. 2:24-26; Acts 20:28; Jn. 10:11-13).

Church Membership

  • We believe that every believer becomes a member of the body of Christ at the moment of salvation (1 Cor. 12:13). Additionally, we believe that Christians are called to identify with a local body of believers through the commitment of church membership to fulfill a believer’s call to partake in the edification of others, exercise spiritual gifts (Romans 12:3-8; 1 Cor. 12:4-31), participate in the ordinances of baptism and communion (Luke 22:19: Acts 2:38-42), and in the fulfillment of the Great Commission.

Church Discipline

  • We believe the Bible instructs the church to practice church discipline for the purity of the church and out of obedience to God. The goal of church discipline is for the restoration of the sinning brother as instructed to us in Matthew 18: 15-18 and for the warning and instruction to the church in Titus 3:10.
